Building a Legacy of Excellence

Greetings Friends of TPWO,

The next Twin Ports Wind Orchestra concert is “A Concert of Sharing" on Sunday, March 10 at 3:00 p.m. at Weber Music Hall. In the fall we enjoyed playing Symphony No. 3 “For David” composed by Kimberly Archer and inspired and dedicated to the late David Maslanka who is known for rhythmically complex and absolutely beautiful combinations of instruments and sounds. One incredible piece in this March concert is composed by David Maslanka himself, Give Us This Day, featuring guest artist, clarinetist Staff Sergeant Tyler Hseih from the “President’s Own” United States Marine Band.

We're looking forward to sharing the stage and half of the program with the Medalist Concert Band! Similar to the TPWO, this is an ensemble comprised of volunteer musicians who enjoy making music together and for audiences. The Medalist Concert Band has been making amazing music for over 50 years. This Twin-Cities based group is  currently conducted by Jerry Luckhardt.

Thank you for your interest and support! Hosting, learning from, and making music with guest soloists and ensembles enriches both the community ensemble members and the audience. Your support in all forms helps the Twin Ports Wind Orchestra. Thank you in advance for sharing our concert information with people you know, attending when you can, and perhaps through an additional donation to help the music keep coming.

It truly is so nice to gather as a community ensemble to learn and make music together. The ensemble is looking forward to playing for you this season!

TPWO - Honors Band Festival

Weber Music Hall, UMD, 1151 University Dr, Duluth, MN

Enjoy wind ensemble music at the Honors Band Festival hosted at the University of Minnesota, Duluth. This concert features both the UMD Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the community Twin Ports Wind Orchestra (TPWO) performing works composed by guest composers, Kimberly Archer and Aaron Perrine. The composers will be at this concert! Symphonic Winds performs at 6pm and TPWO takes the stage at 7pm.

**Note: the two high school honor bands, the Gold and Maroon Bands, will perform at UMD on Saturday, November 4 in the Marshall Performing Arts Center. 225 high school musicians have been invited to the festival.
